🇺🇸 🇮🇷 The world is sleepwalking into a global energy and food emergency, and no one in power seems to be trying to stop it. Analyst Chris Martenson says he can find zero evidence of real diplomatic effort between the United States and Iran, only low-level noise and no direct talks. "I can't find anything to show that we have any intention of doing anything other than prolonging this and getting into a worldwide energy and food emergency." 1/5 of global LNG supply has quietly vanished, and almost no one in the mainstream is saying it out loud. Chris Martenson breaks down why the "just as much oil as before" talking point is covering up a much larger crisis. "If we had an honest analysis, we'd say, no, this is a complete cluster. Bro did you even look at your post before pressing send? If 50 Houthi missiles got through unchallenged on that airport we’d see massive damage everywhere—where is it? That would have been a major catastrophe: dozens of large explosions cratering runways, collapsing terminals, destroying planes and fuel systems, and causing hundreds or thousands of casualties instead of the limited hits actually reported.

🇺🇸 The teen charged in a Minnesota homecoming game shooting is already out of jail. He’s accused of shooting 2 teenagers at the Eden Prairie homecoming game on October 2. Prosecutors say a fight broke out between about 10 people near 2 cars, then the driver of one got out, fired at 2 people and took off, forcing the whole stadium to evacuate. Police say that driver was him. He allegedly ditched his phone and changed his number afterward, but cops still tracked it to the scene and found clothes at his home matching the shooter’s. His bond was set at $100,000, which sounds like a lot until you know cash bail is usually just 10% of that. So as little as $10,000 put him back on the streets before he’s even seen a judge. 🇺🇦🇷🇺 Philip Pilkington thinks Trump’s push for an energy ceasefire in Ukraine is about more than protecting infrastructure. He believes Russia’s winter strategy is to make major Ukrainian cities increasingly difficult to live in, potentially driving another wave of migration into Europe. At the same time, Trump has been pressuring Zelensky to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy targets. Pilkington sees a political calculation in that too. If shortages worsen before the midterms, Trump needs someone else to blame. “Trump also needs a bad guy for the midterms to blame the diesel shortages on, and Zelenskyy is perfect for that.” What makes this more interesting is that the interview itself pushed back on one of Pilkington’s claims: Zelensky’s approval is not around 5%, with cited polling putting it much higher. So the broader argument may be worth examining, but some of the political assumptions underneath it clearly deserve more scrutiny. @philippilk

U of Washington did a study where a researcher trapped & tagged wild crows while wearing a caveman mask. He released the crows unmasked but then when he put the mask back on the crows attacked him. When he went out the next day without the mask, he was fine, but when he put the mask back on, the previously trapped & tagged crows went crazy again on him. As days went by, he repeated this experiment, but the insane development was that over time, even untagged crows started attacking him when he put the mask on. Which means that the previously trapped/tagged crows communicated to all the other crows that they identified the guy who trapped them, and so all the other crows who weren't trapped recognized & identified "the bad guy" who trapped their fellow crow comrades. This reaction by the crows towards anyone who wore the mask went on for years! Here below is another awesome experiment that tests the unbelievable problem solving abilities & intelligence of crows t.co/XRMgaLzsBS

Elon speaking about his Terafab ambitions is genuinely fascinating. “I do not know how to make chips. I have no idea how to make them, but we will figure it out.” You have to start somewhere. I did not know how to make cars or rockets either.” There's something meaningful to learn about how @elonmusk approaches these enormous industrial challenges. He doesn't wait until he's personally mastered an industry before entering it. He learns enough to identify the fundamental problems brings together people who know how to solve them and starts building. Semiconductor manufacturing is a different beast entirely. Even the most experienced companies spend decades mastering it. But that's what makes this interesting. And we've seen that approach before with Tesla and SpaceX. 🔥 Writer: Oliver t.co/hk5wKI3jXE

🇪🇺🇷🇺 Philip Pilkington thinks Europe is slowly talking itself into a much wider war with Russia. Not because one dramatic event suddenly changes everything, but because the rhetoric keeps moving. Sabotage. Drone incursions. Assassination claims. Russian operations inside Europe. At some point, Pilkington argues, governments may feel forced to act on the threats they have spent months describing. “The war is going to spread in Europe.” His concern is that Poland and Romania could become especially important if the conflict expands, simply because they have some of the more substantial and usable military forces on NATO’s eastern flank. The danger is not just escalation from Moscow. It’s that Europe keeps raising the stakes rhetorically until someone decides credibility requires following through. @philippilk

🇺🇸🇬🇷 Kimberly Guilfoyle could be fired as U.S. ambassador to Greece this week. She’s Don Jr.’s ex-fiancée, and Trump picked her for the job in December 2024, the same month the 2 split. But things went south when reports said she’d asked a Trump donor to pay off her $100,000 American Express bill shortly before her Senate confirmation hearing, while offering to get him access to top Trump officials. The donor says he never paid, and her lawyer says the messages aren’t real. That’s left Trump and Rubio reportedly furious, and now they’re weighing her removal, with a decision likely after Monday’s holiday. 🇸🇦 Philip Pilkington thinks Saudi Arabia has backed itself into a very dangerous financial corner. The kingdom has roughly $420 billion in reserves against about $520 billion in external debt. His biggest concern is the currency peg. As long as creditors believe the riyal will stay fixed to the dollar, they can remain relatively calm. But if confidence in that peg starts to crack, capital could leave fast. “The peg is the key.” Under normal circumstances, Saudi Arabia could respond with tax rises, spending cuts and other painful adjustments. But wars have a habit of overruling economic logic. Pilkington’s warning is that Riyadh may now be trying to defend its currency, finance a war and reassure creditors at the same time. That is an ugly tightrope. @philippilk
