Public transportation failures in cities including São Paulo and Salvador raised concerns that some voters couldn't reach polling stations normally. Then came the decision to extend voting until 7 PM Brasília time, but only after numerous ballot boxes had already been closed, creating confusion over who could still vote and where. At some locations, officials were even preparing to use *paper ballots* for voters still waiting. The votes can still be counted correctly. But election legitimacy also depends on citizens having an equal opportunity to cast them. When access to the ballot differs depending on where you live or whether your polling station had already closed, the controversy doesn't necessarily end when a winner is announced.
