A Chinese state-owned contractor apparently plans to restart a 600-megawatt unit at Venezuela's largest fossil-fuel power plant next month. The plant has been largely shut since 2021. Lyon, Nice, Montpellier, Lille, Rouen and several other cities have imposed bans on demonstrations in key areas, with more than 100 municipalities affected by emergency restrictions nationwide. In Marseille, trade unions secured an exception to march after authorities initially imposed a blanket ban. Paris is even more extraordinary.
