🇫🇷 Nancy banned protests today and people pulled up anyway Police locked down the city center and brought out the water cannon, and it didn't take long before they had to use it. Bans clearly aren't scaring anyone in France right now. Long day for the cops in Nancy. Writer: Daniyal t.co/jWS6hBDbzI

🇫🇷 France is now BANNING protests across major cities as authorities brace for another weekend of unrest. Lyon, Nice, Montpellier, Lille, Rouen and several other cities have imposed bans on demonstrations in key areas, with more than 100 municipalities affected by emergency restrictions nationwide. In Marseille, trade unions secured an exception to march after authorities initially imposed a blanket ban. Paris is even more extraordinary. Police initially approved a march from Bastille to Nation, only to SCRAP the route at the last minute and push protesters toward the city's outskirts. Authorities say they're trying to prevent a repeat of last weekend's violence and looting. Source: CIG on TG / Writer: Oliver

🇫🇷 BREAKING: Nantes is ERUPTING as France's latest wave of protests turns violent. Riot police are deploying WATER CANNONS against demonstrators as clashes break out in the streets. France deployed around 70,000 police officers nationwide to prevent another weekend of chaos. And Nantes is already seeing the kind of confrontation they were trying to avoid. SpaceX just pulled in $14.6 BILLION in three months. That's a hell of a quarter. Revenue jumped 161% in a year, and Starship has now started earning its keep. Its first commercial mission delivered 26 Starlink V3 satellites into orbit, adding roughly 10X the downlink capacity of a Falcon 9 Starlink launch. Meanwhile, Starlink has grown to 13.6 million subscribers across 174 countries. More people connecting, more satellites going up, and bigger rockets doing the heavy lifting. Building your own rockets to deliver your own internet is a pretty powerful business model. @SpaceX @Starlink @spacexai / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

🇺🇸🇮🇷 HOLY HELL. THE U.S. NAVY IS LOADING UP FOR ANOTHER POSSIBLE ROUND OF STRIKES ON IRAN. And this time, the Wall Street Journal actually went ABOARD THE WARSHIPS to see what's happening. On the USS George Washington in the Arabian Sea, American fighter jets are flying nighttime operations while enormous quantities of fresh munitions arrive. We're talking LONG-RANGE MISSILES and BUNKER-BUSTING BOMBS. Meanwhile, Trump is considering another bombing campaign, Iran is threatening to hit American warships, and diplomats are desperately trying to prevent the whole thing from exploding again. Imagine trying to negotiate a peace deal while one side is unloading bunker-busters and the other is threatening to sink the aircraft carrier. Nobody has announced a new attack. But the preparations are very real. Source: WSJ / Writer: Oliver

🇫🇷 The doctors and engineers of the future are at it again in Lyon! Despite the city banning demonstrations across many of its central areas today, it's starting to look like the police may have to deploy a lot more than tear gas to avert another disaster. May France survive the onslaught. 🤞 Writer: Mhedi t.co/74BmcSmfaA

🇦🇪 The oil slick is now sitting right next to one of the UAE’s main water plants Naqa’a, the big desalination facility in the northern part of the country, sits inside the zone where the spill has been coming ashore. It turns seawater into drinking water for roughly 2 million people across the northern emirates. Local beaches were already shut while teams work to contain what’s leaking from the tanker hit earlier this month. Source: BBC / Writer: Lucas

🇫🇷🇧🇪 NO, this is not France.... This is Brussels, Belgium. Rioters are building street barricades out of electric scooters and barriers, and they look ready to set them on fire. The violence is tied to ongoing anti-austerity protests against the Belgian government's budget cuts, with masked groups clashing with police on the sidelines of larger demonstrations. Scenes like this are becoming routine across Western Europe. Writer: Daniyal t.co/WLvL7fMvoD

🇮🇱🇺🇸 Trump threw his FULL SUPPORT behind Netanyahu ahead of Tuesday's Israeli election, while some of his closest advisers actually wanted him to STAY OUT OF IT. And even JD Vance refused to follow his lead. Trump gave Netanyahu his “Complete and Total Endorsement,” despite saying earlier this month that he was finished getting involved in Israeli politics. But behind the scenes, frustration with Netanyahu has been building for months. Some Trump officials are fed up with his handling of GAZA, SYRIA and settler violence in the West Bank. Others believe an Israeli government without Netanyahu's far-right coalition partners could actually be easier for Washington to work with. And Netanyahu has a serious problem at home. The final polls from Israel's three major television networks put his bloc at just 50 SEATS, well short of the 61 needed for a majority. Neither side has a clear path to forming a government. Trump has made his preference VERY clear. His own team is considerably less convinced. And with another confrontation with IRAN potentially looming after the U.S. midterms, whoever leads Israel next could have an enormous influence on Washington's next move. 🇫🇷 Paris march left Porte d’Italie today after police SCRAPPED the central route Unions and students headed toward Porte de Vincennes after authorities blocked the agreed Bastille-Nation route, citing fears of more damage near shops hit last weekend. The change came hours before the march, pushing the crowd to the city’s edges. Writer: Lucas t.co/MitcnPe32p

🇦🇪 OIL is HITTING the UAE coast just 50km north of Dubai after a tanker strike Satellite shots from this morning show the slick hitting the northern coastline hard. 🇫🇷 BREAKING: Fresh RIOTS are being reported in Montpellier, France, despite authorities banning demonstrations across the city center. Police have deployed additional forces after last weekend's violent protests saw shops looted and public buildings attacked. The city has suspended central tram services, restricted gatherings and introduced a curfew for minors in an attempt to prevent more violence. But protesters have been planning to return to the streets anyway. France's protest crisis is showing no signs of ending. Source: Metropolitain .fr / Writer: Oliver t.co/wVQhPipLSX

People LOSE THEIR MINDS every time Elon says HITLER was a SOCIALIST “That’s not real socialism,” they say. “It was just in the name.” Except Hitler kept calling himself a socialist. The party was literally the National Socialist German Workers’ Party. Their official program called for nationalizing trusts, profit-sharing, ending “unearned income,” land reform, and putting the common good above the individual. Once in power they ran the economy with price controls, directed production, and a 4-Year Plan that subordinated private companies to the state’s goals. They just redefined socialism as racial solidarity instead of class war, then purged the actual leftists inside the party who took it too seriously. That’s not a gotcha. It’s literally what they did. And the operating system is still running: They capture language so words only mean what the movement needs them to mean. They sort people by group identity and treat the other side as the enemy, not someone to persuade. They run purity spirals where the most extreme enforcer wins. They elevate lived experience or the anointed voice over evidence. They demand the whole person (speech, associations, conscience) for the collective. Individual rights exist only so long as they serve the cause. Same pattern. Different branding. That’s the case. Learn your history people. Writer: Oliver

🇫🇷 Protesters still GATHERED in French cities today, even after local protest BANS Police hit them with tear gas in Lyon when they tried to block a road. Small clashes also broke out in other spots as officers moved to break them up quickly. Last week’s looting made the authorities tighten the rules, but people still came out. 🇩🇪 Germany is spending nearly €245 million ($274 million) to secure additional natural gas supplies ahead of winter, as the country's storage levels remain significantly lower than last year. As of October 21, German gas storage facilities were just 61.1% full, compared to 75.4% at the same point in 2025. To prepare for potential shortages, Germany's gas market operator, Trading Hub Europe, has awarded contracts worth: • €107 million to secure emergency gas supplies for February and March 2027. • €137 million for regular reserves to address potential supply bottlenecks. The contracts essentially act as insurance, encouraging energy companies to keep gas in storage longer and maintain additional supplies if needed. With winter approaching and reserves well below last year's levels, Germany is spending heavily to make sure it has enough gas available to make it through the coldest months. 🇫🇷 France’s Yellow Vests want people back on the streets, this time to defend their freedoms They’re planning a big day of protests on October 31, with sit-ins outside parliament and town halls all over the country. The reason is the government banning a bunch of protests, just a week after violence and looting shook France, which they see as an “authoritarian drift.” And their message to the country is a simple one: “Our freedoms are under attack.” Two Saturdays of protests down, and they’ve already booked the next one. 🇺🇸 Something BIG is happening in the US bond market, and it suggests investors are getting seriously nervous. America's 30-year Treasury yield has plunged from around 5.7% to 5.315% in less than three weeks. On October 22 alone, yields COLLAPSED by roughly 15 basis points, one of the sharpest daily moves in months. And the timing is important. Stocks are falling. Oil is trading above $100. France's financial troubles are rattling European markets. Instead of chasing returns, investors are rushing into U.S. government bonds, pushing their prices higher and yields lower. But here's the contradiction. INFLATION is still a problem. America's debt keeps growing. And borrowing costs remain painfully high. Yet investors are suddenly willing to lend Washington money for 30 years at significantly lower yields than just weeks ago. That doesn't necessarily mean confidence in the American economy is returning. It may mean investors are becoming MORE AFRAID of everything else. Writer: Oliver

🇪🇺 Palantir CEO Alex Karp thinks Europe is becoming IRRELEVANT in the global AI race “With a minor exception in Israel, China and the U.S. are the only relevant countries.” A brutal (and accurate) assessment of a continent home to some of the world's wealthiest economies and most prestigious universities. And Karp is visibly frustrated. “That’s one thing I am apoplectic about in Europe. You can’t help someone who doesn’t want to be helped.” If AI becomes the foundation of economic and military power, Europe risks becoming completely dependent on the two countries building it. America and China are competing to shape the future, while Europe struggles to impose regulations on it. Writer: Oliver t.co/i8FPmQnKui

🇩🇪 Palantir CEO Alex Karp says he's been warning Germany's political elite about MASS MIGRATION for years, and believes the consequences were entirely predictable. “I’ve been yelling at various important Germans in private for a long time that if you do not take migration seriously, it’s going to be a disaster.” When mainstream politicians refuse to confront voters' concerns, they hand power to more radical political forces. Refusing to deal with the issue doesn't make it disappear. It makes the political consequences inevitable. Writer: Oliver t.co/jiA4KiIe81

🇵🇱 Black influencer 'Afropolak' joined a Polish nationalist march and joined the chant of "Poland for Poles." Of course, while he jokingly calls himself half-Polish, it's not entirely clear whether he believes in a version of the phrase that would require Poland to be 100% Polish. 😂 Writer: Mhedi t.co/yRPbwQ5jB5

🇩🇪 HITLER'S infamous Eagle's Nest is apparently beyond saving after a MASSIVE fire tore through the historic building in the Bavarian Alps. And German police are investigating possible ARSON. The former Nazi retreat sits 1,834 meters above sea level, making the firefighting operation a nightmare. By the time crews reached the site, the building was completely engulfed in flames. Heavy firefighting equipment couldn't get close enough. Officers responding to the fire stopped and detained a MOTORCYCLIST on their way up the mountain. Traunstein criminal police are now questioning him to determine whether he had anything to do with the blaze. Authorities believe the damage is so extensive that the building is unlikely to be saved. 🇺🇸🇨🇳 China is no longer expected to overtake the United States as the world's largest economy anytime soon, marking a major shift from predictions made over the past two decades. For years, economists expected China's rapid growth to continue until its economy surpassed America's, with some forecasts predicting that would happen before 2020. But those predictions have repeatedly been pushed back. According to Oxford Economics data, China's economy reached roughly 77% of U.S. GDP in 2021 before falling back to around 67% in 2025. The latest forecast suggests China's economy will reach only about 84% of America's by 2040. The comparison uses nominal GDP, measured in U.S. dollars, meaning exchange rates also influence the figures. China's economic rise has been extraordinary, but the expectation that it would inevitably overtake the United States is looking increasingly uncertain. 🇩🇪 German Chancellor Merz raging against his political opponents: "We are living in a time when a radical Die Linke in Berlin is openly and shamelessly inciting hatred against Jews, against the police, and against Israel's right to exist. And the SPD and the Greens are apparently on their way to helping Die Linke into Berlin's Red City Hall. At the same time, a radical AfD is working every single day to destabilize Germany, abandon Ukraine, spread the Russian narrative, and isolate Germany. In times like these, we need the CDU and CSU more than ever before." Everyone is radical except for the party that's overseen nothing but Germany's decline. 🤣 Writer: Mhedi t.co/Y5Ynps72jr

🇩🇪🇮🇱 German Chancellor Merz just said, "Antisemites and enemies of Israel, whether they come from the right or from the left, will always find bitter opponents in us. We will not tolerate it. 🇧🇬 This is the full video of a journalist opening the car door of Bulgaria's parliamentary speaker, Mihaela Dotsova, and being pushed away by one of her close protection officers The guy in question is being dragged online for excessive force and not staying to help or make sure she was ok However, the journalist breached the security perimeter, which is a clear act of aggression Pushing her away is the least amount of force an officer can use, especially since she was fighting to hold the door open while Mihaela was trying to close it As for not staying with the woman, his job is to continue to make sure Mihaela is protected, not the journalist Long story short: FAFO Writer: Ian t.co/04GdZBYNmz
