🇺🇸 Trump’s Justice Department is gearing up for legal fights with states over voting before the midterms
It’s already suing California over 18,000 voters it suspects might be noncitizens, and more states could be next.
Attorney General Todd Blanche says there’s no plan to interfere when states sign off on results, but he wouldn’t rule it out, pointing to a possible “doomsday” scenario he didn’t explain.
The thing is, the DOJ has no general legal power to hold up election certification. States and local officials are the ones who run elections and sign off on the results.
Saying you won’t hold up certification while refusing to rule it out, 12 days before the midterms, is quite the combo.
