German prosecutors identified the suspect as Vadym Y., alleging he'd been in contact with a Russian intelligence service through an intermediary since at least July 2025. Authorities say he collected information on armored-vehicles, ammunition, and explosives production, as well as military personnel and installations involved in protecting NATO's eastern flank. Some information was publicly available, but prosecutors allege he also sought details directly from people working in Europe's defense industry.
