🇴🇲🇮🇷 Another tanker fire near Oman, and Iran's IRGC Navy couldn't be prouder. It claims it set 7 tankers on fire in just 24 hours, 4 during a ship-to-ship transfer and 3 on mines. They're announcing burning tankers like they just beat their HIGH SCORE. Writer: Julie t.co/niR64ajkht

🇺🇸 NASA is going CAVE HUNTING on the Moon, and it's got its eye on one very suspicious hole. The giant Marius Hills Pit might be the entrance to a massive underground lava tube, formed by ancient volcanic eruptions. NASA has approved a mission to investigate, using a lander, rover, radar and seismic sensors to figure out what's hiding beneath the surface. IF there's a big cave down there, it could one day shelter astronauts from deadly radiation and the Moon's extreme temperatures. A cozy little cave on the Moon, away from all the chaos on Earth? 🇺🇸 American homebuilders haven't been THIS MISERABLE since 2012, and buyers have basically STOPPED showing up. Builder confidence fell to just 29 (out of 100) in October. Back in November 2020, it hit an all-time high of 90. Buyer traffic is even worse, crashing to 18, its lowest level since 2012, excluding the pandemic. The war sent oil prices and inflation fears soaring, Treasury yields followed, and the 30-year mortgage rate hit 7.40% last week, the HIGHEST in nearly 3 years. Builders are also PAYING MORE for diesel, materials and construction loans, while immigration enforcement is keeping even legal workers off job sites. So they're doing what every desperate seller does. 43% of builders CUT PRICES this month, the highest share since at least 2020, and 65% are throwing in sales incentives. All this just 12 days before the midterms, with affordability already a top issue. Earlier this year, Trump refused to sign a bipartisan housing affordability bill, dismissing it as "a big yawn." The bill became law anyway. You think anybody's yawning at a 14-year low? Sources: NAHB, Reuters, NPR / Writer: Julie

11 MILLION people connected to satellites using the phones already in their pockets. No special equipment needed. Starlink Mobile reached that number in just one year across Ukraine, Kazakhstan and Bangladesh. Messages, voice notes and location sharing, even in places where cell towers can't reach. For someone stuck on a remote road, caught in a flood or trying to contact family when the local network goes down, that connection can mean a hell of a lot. Same phone. No cell tower. Still connected. @Starlink @SpaceX / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

🇺🇦 Ukraine just got a NATO shopping card. Kyiv can now buy weapons, ammo and military gear through NATO’s central procurement agency, which could mean faster deliveries and bulk prices instead of haggling country by country. Need 30,000 uniforms? Ukraine just tells NATO, and the agency goes and buys them. Ukraine’s relationship with Washington is at its lowest point since the Oval Office blowup, and Trump’s envoy was in St. Petersburg yesterday talking peace with Putin, so the timing is definitely interesting. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Oil is back above $110 for the first time since May, and Wall Street says you’ll be fine. Brent climbed to $110.67 a barrel today on reports the U.S. and Israel are planning new strikes on Iran right after the midterms. Before the war, it was under $70. An analyst says Americans spend way less of their paycheck on gas than they did 20 or 30 years ago, so they just need to hold up an umbrella and ride out the storm. Lovely forecast. 🇨🇱 LIGHTNING STRIKE ON A PLANE! This is the insane moment when everyone on a domestic flight in Chile looked around and wondered whether they were still ALIVE after a sudden flash of lightning. Luckily, the plane landed safely at its intended destination. Of course, that comes down to the fact that modern planes act like Faraday cages, channeling lightning across their conductive outer shells, protecting passengers and critical systems from serious damage. A small rooftop satellite dish could soon make a huge difference in rural India. Starlink spent over 5 years working with regulators, building local gateways and getting the infrastructure ready. That's a lot of effort behind the scenes. India has plenty of places where decent internet is still a struggle. Remote villages, mountain communities and areas miles away from the nearest fibre connection. Once Starlink goes live, those people, schools and businesses will have a whole new way to connect. Starlink is ready to connect India to space. @Starlink @SpaceX / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

🇺🇸ICE is causing some big cracks for the midterms The deportation crackdown is rapidly becoming a heated flashpoint across key swing states. In Wisconsin, GOP nominee Tom Tiffany wants a mandate forcing local sheriffs to work with ICE. But Democrat David Crowley is drawing a hard line there demanding judicial warrants and banning face masks. The feds have detained over 2,100 people in Wisconsin since January alone. Trump's deportation drive has increasingly collided with state and local governments. Source: Fox News / Writer: Bri

🇺🇸 In Alaska, both ballots will have a Daniel Sullivan, and Trump is calling that a straight SCAM He said Democrats put up Daniel J. Sullivan Jr., a retired teacher with no political background, to confuse voters against the incumbent Dan S. Sullivan. The Alaska Supreme Court already ordered him to be kept on the ballot after the state tried to remove him. That move is odd enough to make anyone suspicious. Now the campaign efforts have to be around the second name to not get confused. Writer: Lucas

🇺🇸 A "miracle" weight loss shot from a Brooklyn bodega turned out to be fragrance filler and BACTERIA CBS News bought retatrutide, an experimental drug Eli Lilly is still testing, from a clinic website, a gym and a corner store without ever talking to a doctor. Lab tests showed the $90 bodega vial had no drug in it at all, just a chemical found in lip balm plus 13 colonies of bacteria, and Lilly says black-market versions have already been tied to two deaths. 🚨🇺🇸🇷🇺 Two of Trump’s top midterm advisers took Balkan consulting money from a Russia-friendly government... while running his fight for Congress The men behind Trump’s midterm machine, Chris LaCivita and James Blair, were reportedly paid hundreds of thousands of dollars to advise the pro-Moscow government of Bosnia’s Republika Srpska, and Trump’s patience had a limit: “If there’s a conflict, I will terminate them, immediately!” Pile that on top of the infighting and leaks out of this White House, and it starts to look like people already planning their next job. That’s the real midterm threat... a president can’t win a close election with a team that’s half out the door, and if the Republicans lose the House on Nov 3, expect a lot more exits. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump says the US is "not negotiating" with Iran and something happens "fairly soon"... "We have a little conflict against Iran. We're doing very well militarily and financially against Iran... I think we're not negotiating. Something one way or the other will happen fairly soon. Most people seem to think it’s after the election, we’re gonna see what happens, but I'm going to say this: what we've done with Iran is amazing." Tehran tells a different story, with its foreign minister saying indirect talks on its seven-day ceasefire plan are still alive. Either way, the calendar says it all... carriers and Marines arrive by late November, and unless Iran stops setting tankers on fire, the first week after Nov 3 is when the “not nice way” begins. 🚨🇺🇸 The Dream and Valkyries jogged off the court during the national anthem for a third straight WNBA Finals game... and the league still hasn't said a word The WNBA's own rulebook says players have to stand and line up in a dignified posture while the anthem plays, but neither the league nor the NBA has responded after both teams walked off three games in a row. Sophie Cunningham was the ONLY Fever star with her hand over her heart in one viral clip this season, even while her own teammates stood beside her without doing the same, and the Dream stayed in the locker room that night too. Seems like she's the only player with any real SPINE in this league. If the league won't enforce its own rulebook during the Finals, fans are going to start wondering what the rules are even for... and change the channel. Source: Fox / Writer: Daniel

🇺🇸 WTF? A Florida lawyer walked into a gun shop and TALKED about shooting ICE agents in the head 😳 Lisa White allegedly said she wanted a firearm for protests, asked if it could penetrate body armor, and said she’d aim for the head if it couldn’t.
