DAILY NEWS RECAP: IS THE MIDDLE EAST HEADING TOWARDS ANOTHER MAJOR WAR?
The warning signs are piling up, and Brandon Weichert joined me to break down another extraordinary day of geopolitical developments.
The Financial Times reports that Israel prepared a massive new strike campaign against Iran targeting nuclear facilities, energy infrastructure, and senior leadership, but Trump reportedly blocked it ahead of the U.S midterms.
Now Axios reports that dozens of Israeli fighter jets flew towards Iran in what was officially described as a "military exercise," raising fresh questions about whether another attack is being prepared.
Meanwhile, Iraq is closing border crossings with Iran, two more tankers have reportedly been struck near the Strait of Hormuz, and the Houthis have released footage showing drone attacks on Saudi border forces.
The situation is becoming particularly dangerous for Saudi Arabia, with Turkey considering troop deployments under the emerging Mecca defence alliance and Britain sending additional fighter jets to help defend the kingdom.
And the political stakes are rising in Israel, where Haaretz reports disagreements between Netanyahu and military officials over another attack on Iran ahead of the Israeli elections.
On the Ukraine front, Zelensky has signalled openness to freezing the current battle lines, while fresh reports point to growing tensions between Washington and Kyiv over Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy infrastructure.
We also examined Britain's nuclear submarine maintenance crisis, Russia's shrinking naval presence in the Mediterranean, and reports that the Pentagon is considering abandoning some U.S bases damaged by Iranian attacks.
Brandon's warning is that these developments may no longer be about deterrence. They could be preparations for a much wider conflict.
And with the Strait of Hormuz still at the centre of the confrontation, the consequences could extend far beyond the Middle East.
The question now isn't just whether another war begins, but how many countries get dragged into it if it does.
