Days before the Houthis declared the blockade in July, Reuters reported that Iran's leadership told them to shut the strait if America hit Iran's power plants. The WSJ reported Thursday that Revolutionary Guard officers are inside Yemen providing targeting, training and the fiber-optic FPV drones that are the IRGC’s signature, and that the war restarted when Iran flew Guard officers and missile parts into Sanaa on funeral flights in July. Washington has ordered federal civilian agencies to remove DeepSeek, including third-party software built using its models, over fears that sensitive government data could end up in Chinese hands. China is demanding an immediate reversal, accusing Trump of violating understandings reached with Xi Jinping. And Beijing is threatening to take measures of its own. The two leaders only recently agreed to cooperate through a new AI dialogue. Now Washington is effectively telling Beijing that its AI models aren't trusted anywhere near American government systems. The U.S. and China are trying to cooperate on artificial intelligence while simultaneously treating each other's technology as a national security threat. Then you spend another $100 to $300 a month on supplements because apparently losing weight now comes with a shopping list. Nearly HALF of GLP-1 users have started taking additional vitamins and supplements, while America's supplement industry has ballooned past $74 BILLION. And naturally, TikTok influencers have arrived to sell everyone the solution. Some of these products may help with genuine nutritional needs. Others come with questionable claims and little regulatory scrutiny. The FDA is now considering tighter oversight. Economic frustration, immigration tensions, labor unions and radical political groups are now colliding on French streets. And the American political class has wasted no time turning it into an election argument. Trump blames immigration. Mike Johnson blames open borders and the socialist left. Democrats point to the dangers of aggressive immigration enforcement. But I think France exposes something deeper than either party wants to admit. When governments struggle to provide decent schools, affordable living and a convincing sense of national direction, people eventually stop believing the system works FOR them. Immigration and integration absolutely belong in that conversation. Pretending otherwise is dishonest. But reducing France's entire crisis to immigrants or socialists is just as lazy.
