🇷🇺🇺🇸🇨🇳 Putin wants Trump and Xi to sit down and talk about Ukraine, without Zelensky.
He floated the idea during his October 9 call with Trump, the same conversation that led to their Russian diesel deal.
The plan is to meet on November 18 or 19 in Shenzhen, China, during the APEC summit.
The Kremlin confirms talks are happening, but Trump hasn't agreed to anything yet. China has reportedly signaled it wouldn't object if he does.
For Putin, the appeal is pretty clear. He gets to discuss Ukraine with the leaders of the U.S. and China, while Ukraine and Europe aren't even at the table.
And the timing works in Moscow's favor. Trump has just agreed to buy Russian diesel, held off on new sanctions, and is publicly criticizing Zelensky over strikes on Russian oil facilities.
A meeting like this would give Putin the chance to push his terms for ending the war directly to Trump and Xi, without Kyiv there to respond.

@MarioNawfal Excluding Zelensky from talks on Ukraine is a dangerous precedent; Both your perspective and his @magaamerica1965 perspective are worth learning from.
