🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump: "If you are in doubt about somebody's name from the Middle East, just say Mohammed. You have about a 65% chance. I've done it for years now. I've never been wrong." Doesn't matter who's across the table. Mohammed it is. Honestly that explains a few things about where the Iran negotiations are going. 😂😭 Writer: Oliver

🇫🇷 FRANCE IS ERUPTING BEYOND PARIS Anger over rising living costs, fuel prices and education reforms is spilling into cities across the country. Police have been preparing for hundreds of protest actions and more than 80 marches. In Paris, officers have deployed tear gas. Elsewhere, roads are blocked and barricades are going up. And what's interesting is who's coming together. Students, workers and unions are protesting over different grievances, but much of that frustration is aimed at the same government. It's starting to bring back memories of the Yellow Vests, when anger over fuel prices grew into something far bigger. France has been through this before. And once people feel their government has stopped listening, getting them off the streets becomes a whole different problem. Writer: Oliver t.co/mEAA0gk3M5

Everyone seems convinced the Iran war is about to restart. I've been a lone wolf claiming the war is over since Trump made the threats to wipe out Iran's civilization on April 7th Days later, a ceasefire was announced. Since then, we've seen sporadic fighting, but with 95% fewer strikes than during the war itself. The war never returned to anything close to the intensity we saw in March. But things are changing. The U.S. is conducting a massive military build-up. Israel and Iran are on high alert. And Iran has now struck more ships in the Strait of Hormuz than it did at any other time since the war. Almost every indicator points to a repeat of February 28 and a full-scale resumption of the war. Yet I still believe the war is over. My prediction is that Trump will instead launch a limited, largely symbolic strike to further degrade Iran's capabilities, declare victory, and move on. The reason is simple: There is no military solution to the Iran problem. Iran reportedly has almost as many missile launchers as it did before the war (400 vs. 420). It's rapidly rebuilding its missile stockpiles, while U.S. regional bases and radar systems have sustained significant damage, and interceptor inventories are critically depleted. The massive U.S. military build-up is more likely intended to deter a major Iranian retaliation following a limited strike than to prepare for another prolonged war. Trump wants out of the region. But Iran has made that extremely difficult by seeking control over the Strait of Hormuz. Trump tried to force Tehran to concede, and failed. In my view, his remaining choices are to accept Iran's position and walk away, escalate into another war with no clear military solution, or resort to the unthinkable: nuclear weapons. And unlike some, I don't believe Trump is crazy enough to use a nuclear warhead. So I stand by my assessment: The war is over. But here's an important caveat: I'm significantly less confident in that prediction than I was before. Iran's increasingly maximalist demands have changed the equation, and the probability that I'm wrong is now higher than at any point since I made this call. I could be wrong, but I'm not changing my assessment simply because the overwhelming consensus has moved in the opposite direction.

🇾🇪🇸🇦 The Houthis are capturing Saudi-backed military vehicles in Yemen, apparently while chewing khat. Footage circulating from Yemen reportedly shows Houthi fighters casually taking possession of vehicles belonging to the Saudi-backed Presidential Leadership Council. And the fighters appear remarkably relaxed about the whole thing. Some are reportedly chewing khat, a stimulant plant widely consumed in Yemen. Meanwhile, the Houthis are advancing against Saudi-backed forces, cutting off strategic roads and tightening their grip around Taiz. Saudi Arabia is fighting to contain a growing military threat, while its opponents are apparently treating captured vehicles like souvenirs from an afternoon drive. 🇺🇸 A former U.S. Army sniper claims AMERICAN SPECIAL FORCES FOUGHT REPTILIAN BEINGS In a secret underground base NEAR AREA 51 And somehow the story gets even crazier. Nick Betts says an elite JSOC operator told him about an emergency mission to investigate a secret facility that had suddenly gone silent. The first team sent inside allegedly disappeared. A second team arrived carrying advanced energy weapons, only to encounter three reptilian-looking creatures armed with the same technology. According to the account, one American soldier was killed before the creatures were eliminated. His body was allegedly cremated, the death disguised as a training accident, and the survivors ordered to keep quiet. And here's the part Betts says convinced him. When he questioned another operator about the incident, the man allegedly grabbed him by the throat and threatened him. There's just one rather important detail: The entire story came from an unnamed soldier during a night of HEAVY DRINKING in Poland... Source: Daily Mail, Insider Paper / Writer: Oliver

🇦🇱 Protests in Albania are getting WILD, and people are throwing ROCKS AND BOTTLES at police vans It has been weeks of student-led demonstrations over corruption and living costs, and the police response has been getting heavier. 🇫🇷 FIREFIGHTERS are trying to put out a fire in Lyon. But first, POLICE have to PROTECT THEM FROM THE MOB France is seeing another wave of violent unrest, and things have gotten particularly ugly at Place Bellecour in Lyon. The city's tourist office has caught fire, and local reports say hostile individuals are preventing firefighters from getting close enough to tackle the blaze. Earlier, protesters blocked roads, clashed with police and were met with tear gas as demonstrations over living costs spread across the country. People are angry about the cost of living. That's understandable. But firefighters aren't politicians. They're not responsible for anyone's bills or government policies. They're there to stop buildings from burning down. When the people trying to save lives need police protection just to do their jobs, something has gone terribly wrong! Writer: Oliver t.co/IwxZUpZGGq

Mehdi Hasan came to this interview with receipts. He confronted Neera Tanden over the Center for American Progress hosting Netanyahu in 2015. Tanden said she now regrets it and wishes it had never happened. Then Mehdi pulled out an old email in which she reportedly told John Podesta that getting a Bain Capital figure on CAP's board made hosting Netanyahu worth it. Complete with a smiley face. Tanden said she didn't remember the email and pointed to the Obama administration's involvement. The moment he brought up that email, this became a very different interview.
