Here's the part the lawyers are going to fight over. Bend's school district banned every firearm on its property in 2022, permit holders included, and state law says a gun on campus has to be unloaded and locked in a car. Police won't say where the bystander was standing or whether he was supposed to have a gun at all. So the system said no guns, the killer brought one anyway, and the only thing that stopped him was someone who may have also broken the rule. Whatever the circumstances, the person is a HERO.
