🇸🇦🇾🇪 The Houthis may be looking beyond Yemen and toward Saudi territory I spoke with Pepe Escobar about the escalating war between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis, and he raised a possibility I hadn't seriously considered. What if the Houthis are no longer thinking exclusively about Yemen? Pepe pointed to a recent statement by Houthi military spokesman Yahya Saree denying that his forces had attacked Saudi territory. That might sound ordinary, except Pepe believes there's a deliberate distinction being made. The Houthis have reportedly targeted Najran, a Saudi border province with historical ties to Yemen. Pepe suspects the denial reflects something much bigger: the Houthis may increasingly regard Najran, along with other southern Saudi provinces, as territory they have a right to reclaim. That's a significant interpretation, although the statement alone doesn't establish any territorial plan. We also discussed Saudi Arabia's attempts to bring Turkey and Pakistan into the conflict. Pepe believes neither government wants a direct war with the Houthis, despite their security commitments to Riyadh. And he sees the fighting in Yemen as inseparable from the confrontation between Washington and Tehran. What concerns me is how the terms of this conflict could change. Saudi Arabia may be looking for a ceasefire that restores the previous balance. But if the Houthis believe they're gaining the upper hand, they could start demanding considerably more than an end to the bombing. A war Saudi Arabia hoped to contain inside Yemen could become a dispute over Saudi Arabia's own borders. @RealPepeEscobar

🇮🇷🇧🇭🇰🇼 Col. Douglas Macgregor thinks a future Iran war could move onto Gulf soil much faster than most people expect. He argues that if Tehran chose to escalate beyond missile strikes, small Gulf states like Bahrain or Kuwait could be far more vulnerable to a limited Iranian ground incursion than their alliances suggest. “I’m not saying they’ll do it, but I’m telling you they can.” Macgregor’s point is that Iran wouldn’t need a massive invasion force. A relatively small number of professional troops, backed by missiles, air defenses and potentially allied militias from Iraq, could create a crisis very quickly. That would change the war completely. The Gulf would no longer just be hosting American bases and absorbing missile attacks. It could become an actual battlefield. @DougAMacgregor

🇺🇲 Trump is (once again) BLAMING BIDEN for America’s economic woes. “We inherited the worst inflation through Biden in the history of our county. We have that down now, very down low. It’s gonna come even lower soon as we finish the war.” It’s a misleading statement, and here’s why: -Inflation peaked at 9.1% in June 2022, the highest in about 40 years, but the U.S. record was 23.7% in 1920. -Annual inflation had fallen to around 3% by January 2025, when Trump took office. -Lower inflation means prices are rising more slowly, not that prices have returned to previous levels. It’s time for POTUS to take that broken record off the turntable… He’s STILL singing the wrong tune. Source: FactCheck, PolitiFact / Writer: Marie t.co/uiaepj8PYx

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Col. Douglas Macgregor thinks the biggest danger in another U.S.-Iran war is that Trump may believe he can keep it limited. A few days of strikes. Damage missile sites, energy infrastructure and nuclear facilities. Declare victory. Stop. Macgregor thinks that is exactly where the trap begins. His expectation is that Israel would strike first, Washington would follow, and Iran would respond far harder than before. “They will wipe everything out on the western side of the Gulf.” He believes that would drag the U.S. into a much longer war than planned, while exposing oil infrastructure, desalination plants and American bases across the region. The problem with a “limited” war is that Iran gets a vote too. @DougAMacgregor

🇬🇧🇺🇦🇷🇺 Britain is quietly sending Ukraine more Storm Shadow missiles to hit targets inside Russia. PM Andy Burnham and Zelensky talked it over in London yesterday. The idea is to help Ukraine go after the Russian sites behind the attacks on its power grid, before winter hits. That’s not what Washington wants. The U.S. has told Kyiv to stop hitting Russian refineries, but Britain thinks Ukraine shouldn’t stop as long as Russia keeps going. And this isn’t new for Burnham. Back in August, he promised to share blueprints so Ukraine could put together its own long-range missiles at home. So while Washington is telling Ukraine to ease off, London is handing it more ways to hit back. Source: Bloomberg / Writer: Daniyal

🇮🇱🇸🇾 NETANYAHU JUST REVEALED A SECRET PHONE CALL WITH SYRIA'S PRESIDENT AFTER BOMBING HIS CAPITAL. This is extraordinary. In July 2025, Israel struck Syria's Defense Ministry and a target near the presidential palace in Damascus. What nobody knew until now is that Netanyahu then personally picked up the phone and called Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa. Netanyahu says the conversation was brief, confrontational, and helped stop the massacre of Druze civilians. We're talking about two countries that have fought multiple wars, remain technically at war, and have no diplomatic relations. And their leaders were apparently speaking directly while Israeli bombs were hitting Damascus. That's a remarkable glimpse into what's really happening behind closed doors in the Middle East.

Back in 2022, Netanyahu publicly accused Naftali Bennett of spending $16 million renovating his private home. The actual security bill was roughly half that. 🇺🇸🇮🇷 A new war with Iran could spiral out of control in just 72 hours I've been trying to understand whether Trump could launch one final attack on Iran, declare victory and simply walk away. So I put that scenario to Professor Robert Pape, who has spent decades studying military strategy and how wars escalate. His answer made me reconsider the entire situation. Pape believes we're approaching something resembling the conditions that produced World War I. Not because the alliances are identical, but because military preparations are creating incentives for countries to strike before their opponents do. And this time, there are at least four major actors: America, Iran, Saudi Arabia and the Houthis. Imagine Trump launches a three-day bombing campaign against Iran. Iran retaliates. The Houthis then attack an American warship, calculating that they could be Washington's next target. American sailors are killed. Suddenly, walking away becomes politically much harder for Trump. Saudi Arabia could also see an opportunity to strike the Houthis before they attack again. A limited operation has become a regional war, potentially within days. Pape's warning is that each decision could appear rational to the leader making it, even as the combined result becomes disastrous. He also raised a longer-term concern: renewed fighting could strengthen militant groups in Yemen and Pakistan, creating security problems that survive long after the initial conflict. What struck me most was how little this depends on anyone actually wanting a larger war. Trump might plan a three-day operation. But he cannot plan the decisions everyone else makes on day four. @ProfessorPape

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump may be planning one last strike on Iran, but Iran may not let him walk away There's something deeply concerning about the latest reports of American strike plans against Iran. CNN reports that the Pentagon has considered using the GBU-43, the largest conventional bomb in the U.S. arsenal, against Iranian targets. The apparent idea is to deliver a devastating blow, declare victory and avoid another prolonged war. I discussed this with retired Colonel Douglas Macgregor, who believes Trump desperately wants a way out of the conflict. But Macgregor sees a fundamental flaw in the plan. Washington might decide that one enormous attack is enough. Tehran has no obligation to agree. He believes Iran's next retaliation could target American bases and critical infrastructure across the Gulf, potentially turning what Trump intended as a limited operation into a much larger regional war. Macgregor also argues that Israel's objectives go considerably further than Trump's apparent desire to declare victory and leave. And that creates a dangerous possibility: America launches a strike intended to end its involvement, only to find itself under pressure to continue fighting. We also discussed the possibility of Iranian ground incursions into neighboring Gulf states and the growing strain on America's military commitments in Europe. I don't share Macgregor's certainty about how devastating Iran's response would be. But his central warning deserves serious attention. The United States can decide when to launch another attack. It cannot decide when the consequences end. @DougAMacgregor
