🇷🇺🇺🇦 Russia launched a massive overnight drone attack on Ukraine's Kirovohrad region, killing three people and injuring six... as both sides continue exchanging large-scale strikes. The assault lasted more than 10 hours, with Ukrainian authorities reporting strikes at 25 locations, including logistics centers, warehouses, transport infrastructure, and residential buildings. Regional officials described it as the largest attack on Kirovohrad since the full-scale invasion, with nearly 360 Russian drones entering the region. The strikes come just days after Trump announced an immediate halt to attacks on energy infrastructure, an arrangement that Ukraine said it would support if Russia reciprocated. 🇺🇦🇺🇸🇷🇺 Zelensky says Ukraine is going back to hitting Russia's oil refineries, Trump's ceasefire be damned. "The block is out. We're done." Ukraine paused energy strikes for 3 days to keep Washington happy, while Russia kept pounding Ukraine's grid and killed more than 100 civilians in a week. In return, Zelensky says, Kyiv lost U.S. early warnings for incoming ballistic missiles, which Washington later chalked up to a technical glitch. The U.S. wants the refinery strikes stopped so its deal for hundreds of thousands of tons of Russian diesel can bring down fuel prices at home. Zelensky's bet on what comes next is "definitely" gas. He says he'd only hold off again in exchange for more Patriot interceptors, calling that the bare minimum. Kyiv held up its end for 3 days and got its missile alerts switched off for the trouble, so it's hardly shocking it's done playing nice. Source: FT / Writer: Julie t.co/GfrmrOXIT4

🇺🇸🇷🇺 Zelensky just implied that Trump's respect for Putin is because he rules with an iron fist: "I think President Trump is a man who speaks about it openly and loudly, that he loves such people and respects such people. Because for him, people who can be leaders for 20 years, 30 years, 40 years, that means they are very strong, because they can hold power." Writer: Mhedi t.co/AjG3CDMgYC

🇺🇦🇺🇸 Zelensky says Ukraine asked the U.S. for Patriot missiles and got its comms throttled instead. "When I don't attack them, because you asked me not to attack them, they will attack me. It's fair if you give me something with which to defend myself. That's the minimum I'm asking for. And when I'm asking this, your answer is blocking Starlink." Elon said that call doesn't sit with SpaceX at all. The military version of Starlink is called Starshield, and it's owned and controlled by the U.S. government, so any limits on speed or usage are decided by the U.S. military and ultimately Trump. So the same man asking Ukraine to go easy on Russia is the one pushing the buttons that keep their comms going. Huh… Writer: Julie t.co/wNqjWa2zTV

🇺🇸 Scott Bessent is calling for major World Bank reforms, including lifting restrictions on financing oil and gas extraction projects. Bessent argues that countries should be allowed to develop their energy resources without the bank automatically excluding fossil fuel projects. He also wants the World Bank to support deep-sea mining for critical minerals and expand investment in nuclear energy. Other demands include limiting borrowing by wealthier countries such as China and Poland and reforming procurement rules to encourage competition. Bessent also urged the IMF to take a tougher stance against economic policies that distort global trade in an apparent reference to China. The proposals reflect the Trump administration's push to reshape international financial institutions around its energy and economic priorities. Source: The State / Writer: Mhedi

🇺🇦🇷🇺 Zelensky says Ukraine kept its hands off Russia’s refineries for 3 days to respect the energy ceasefire, and Russia spent all 3 hitting Ukraine anyway. “I said to my military people that during the energy ceasefire, we would not attack Russian refineries, or anything connected with diesel. Because even if we are right, and we are right, somebody will say that we broke the energy ceasefire. I don't want to play this game. That's why, for three days, we didn't attack any of Russia's energy or diesel infrastructure. And for three days, they attacked us.” Kyiv kept its promise, and Moscow kept firing. 🇺🇸🇪🇺🇷🇺 The U.S. pitched Europe on unfreezing some of Russia's frozen assets to lure Putin back to peace talks. Witkoff and Kushner suggested the money could go into a special vehicle overseen by Washington, which raised more than a few eyebrows. They floated the idea in Miami last week with officials from Ukraine, France, Germany, the UK, the EU and NATO in the room. A person briefed on the meeting said they were, unsurprisingly, told it was "simply not going to happen." Western allies froze about €260B of Russian state assets in 2022, most of it sitting in the EU. Releasing a single euro would need all 27 EU members to agree, which is about as far-fetched as Moscow paying war reparations. The Kremlin, meanwhile, says it will chase its “stolen” assets through the courts. Europe has sat on that vault for 4 years, and somehow someone thought it would just slide the key across the table 😆 Source: FT / Writer: Julie

Older cars aren't supposed to get better at driving. Yet here we are. Tesla is bringing FSD Supervised v14 Lite to older Intel-equipped Model S and X vehicles, squeezing newer driving intelligence into their existing HW3 computers. Smoother merges, better pedestrian handling and improved parking. The kind of stuff you actually notice in everyday driving. Getting more out of the car you already paid for? That's a pretty impressive way to make a software update feel like a car upgrade. @Tesla / Writer: Annette, Designer: Janné

🇺🇸🇪🇺🇷🇺 Von der Leyen can’t catch a break 🤣 The U.S. wants Europe to hand over part of Russia’s FROZEN ASSETS to a fund controlled by Washington. Witkoff and Kushner floated the idea in Miami to restart Ukraine talks. Europe rejected it, refusing to surrender control or return the money to Moscow. Around €260B in Russian state assets remain frozen, mostly in Europe. The interest already funds Ukraine loans. Touching the principal is another battle, and Europe isn’t handing Washington the keys. Even the timing of the Roadster reveal is having a bit of fun with the idea of flying cars. 🇨🇦 Canada could FORCE Cleveland-Cliffs to sell its Canadian steel assets over planned cuts of up to 500 Ontario jobs. Ottawa warns of penalties or a forced sale under the Investment Canada Act. Cleveland-Cliffs denies any breach and is ready to fight in court. Layoffs have begun, and Ottawa is reviewing its options. More than 85,000 homes just behaved like ONE giant power plant. Tesla Powerwalls across California pushed more than 600 MW back into the grid right when demand was peaking. 🇮🇷🇺🇸 Iran spent 30 years digging missile cities under its mountains, and that's why seven months of bombing never ended this war By late March, after a month of round-the-clock strikes, five people familiar with US intelligence told Reuters that Washington could confirm destroying only about a third of Iran's missiles. Another third was buried and unknowable. The rest sat untouched. Residents in Kermanshah told the Irish Times that missiles flew from the same mountains within hours of a strike, because a collapsed tunnel mouth gets dug out in a day and the weapons behind it were never hit. By June, US estimates had Iran keeping around 70% of its launchers and stockpile. Now Israel is warning that Pickaxe Mountain, the enrichment site Iran carved deeper than any bunker buster reaches, is coming online too. That's the whole war in one engineering fact: American bombs can shut a door, they can't reach what's behind it. Seven months bought time. The arsenal is waiting for a ceasefire to come out. 🇺🇸 Trump says how exhausting it may be to do every rally: "It’s not easy work, you know, doing these rallies. You can’t walk in and do 15 minutes. You have to do a long time. 🇺🇸 People along the Florida coast woke up to a GLOWING JELLYFISH floating across the sky from a SpaceX launch 🤩 The Falcon 9 went up before dawn from Cape Canaveral on a cargo run to the space station. 🚨🇺🇸🇮🇷 NEW: Trump's "wait until you see what we do to Iran" is the mother of all bombs... a fireworks show reportedly meant to be the final bookend on this war CNN reports the new packages target "a lot of energy infrastructure" plus nuclear sites including Pickaxe, with the 21,600-pound MOAB written in. One source said the strikes would come "prior to US retrograde," meaning hit, declare victory, pull out. The problem is physics. The MOAB is an air-blast weapon that flattens nine city blocks on the surface, and the officials pushing back say it was built for psychological operations, "definitely not designed as a deep penetration warhead." Pickaxe is under layers of GRANITE. One planner called it "a massive information operation type weapon that is great for huge area clearance but not much else." A fourth source called the options a "fireworks show" to give Trump an off-ramp, and another said the president "is almost compelled to do something." Without the ammunition to reach what matters, "you have to look at psychological effects." Earlier this week Trump told rallies to "wait until you see what we do to Iran." This is what: the biggest bang available, aimed at a mountain it can’t crack, timed to look like an ending. The scary part, and the sad part, is that it completely TRACKS with how this war has been conducted from day one. At this point, though, I think most people would agree that if letting Trump have his spectacle and take a curtain call is what it costs to end this conflict, it’s a price worth paying.
