🇨🇦 Canada could FORCE Cleveland-Cliffs to sell its Canadian steel assets over planned cuts of up to 500 Ontario jobs.
Minister Mélanie Joly says the 2024 Stelco deal required 5 years of job protection.
The company blames Trump’s 50% steel tariffs. Ottawa warns of penalties or a forced sale under the Investment Canada Act.
Cleveland-Cliffs denies any breach and is ready to fight in court.
Layoffs have begun, and Ottawa is reviewing its options.

@MarioNawfal Of course the company is immediately blaming Trump tariffs for the cuts, it’s the absolute perfect built in excuse to slash overhead and dump workers while trying to dodge the political fallout
