🇻🇦🇺🇸 Pope Leo XIV has lung cancer, and surgeons just removed part of his right lung
The Vatican confirmed Tuesday that the "small, localized nodule" the 71-year-old American pope disclosed on Sunday turned out to be adenocarcinoma, the most common form of lung cancer.
Doctors at Rome's Gemelli Hospital took out the lower lobe of his right lung in a 90-minute operation they called successful and free of complications.
Leo walked into the hospital on his own, waved to the crowd outside, and has no known history of health problems.
He has about a week in the hospital ahead of him and a major South America trip scheduled for early November.
Catching it early is good news, but anything requiring his signature now waits, and the Vatican has no rulebook for a pope who can't work.

@MarioNawfal Pretty insane reading the comments of the so called US ‘Christians’ celebrating the fact that he has cancer.
They would have stoned Jesus, would do it in a heartbeat if HE came back.
He’s an incredible Pope, following the teachings of Jesus. 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
