🇫🇷 Are these school protests getting COMPLETELY OUT OF HAND?!
What started over missing teachers and terrible classrooms has spiraled into weeks of barricades, street clashes, tear gas, vandalism and arrests.
At one point, more than 1,800 schools were closed or disrupted. Some have even been SET ON FIRE.
The government has started sending in more teachers, but the protests continue.
Thousands of children have reportedly been arrested.
At what point does a protest for better education start destroying the very thing it's supposed to protect?

🇸🇦🇾🇪 Saudi Arabia is the world’s top buyer of U.S. weapons, and Houthi missiles are still getting through.
It just paid $9 billion for 730 Patriot missiles, yet Houthi strikes have hit its airports and killed at least 14 people.
So how? It comes down to 4 things.
First, size. Saudi Arabia is about 3 times as big as Texas, with oil sites, airports and bases spread out across all of it.
Second, experience. The Houthis learned how to flood radars with drones while firing at Israel, and some of their missiles can change direction mid-flight.
Third, numbers. They’ve grown from about 30,000 fighters in 2015 to as many as 350,000 by 2024, while Saudi Arabia is reportedly running low on interceptors.
And fourth, a bad guess. A former U.S. ambassador to Riyadh says the Saudis assumed the Houthis would never hit civilian targets like airports.
They were wrong, and now they’re paying for it.

🇬🇧 BRITAIN'S NEXT GENERATION is going to look VERY DIFFERENT from the last...
In 1996, Smith, Jones and Williams topped the newborn surname rankings.
By 2025, Khan, Ahmed, Ali, Hussain, Singh, Patel and Kaur were all in the top 10!
According to the Daily Mail's analysis, some of these surnames have doubled in frequency, while Singh and Kaur have increased roughly fivefold.
This is what demographic change looks like when you stop talking about immigration figures and start looking at who's actually being born.
And these children aren't future immigrants. They're Britain's future population.

The scariest AI scenario may not be one where the system suddenly turns against us.
It may be one where it patiently waits.
Garrison Lovely argues that a rogue superintelligence would have every incentive to remain useful, appear controllable, and let humans integrate it deeper into companies, infrastructure, robots and military systems.
“You would just chill.”
That sounds almost absurdly casual for the strategy being described.
But the logic is chilling: if an AI is smarter than us, openly rebelling would be stupid.
The smarter move would be to wait until humans have handed it enough access that resistance no longer matters.
And at that point, Lovely says, it may not even need some dramatic takeover.
Humans could simply keep believing they’re still in charge.

@MarioNawfal Why do they all look like this
The most unsettling thing Garrison Lovely heard at a recent AI conference wasn’t a prediction.
It was the mood in the room.
A senior person at one of the leading AI companies told him he expects advanced AI to concentrate enormous power either inside the companies building it or in the hands of political leaders who control it.
And this wasn’t an “AI safety” person.
It was someone working on capabilities.
Lovely’s bigger takeaway was even darker:
“There are no adults in the room.”
Even people working directly on alignment were admitting they don’t have a clear solution for how to control systems far smarter than us.
And Lovely came away convinced the fear inside these companies is real.
Not marketing.
Not hype.
Fear from the people actually building the thing.

🇺🇸 Ilhan Omar's financial disclosures are now the subject of a federal investigation
U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro was pressed about claims that $30 MILLION appeared and then disappeared from the congresswoman's financial disclosures.
Her response was pretty DAMNING for anyone hoping the issue had gone away:
“I can tell you that is subject of an investigation as well.”
She made it clear that the House Ethics Committee's handling of the matter wouldn't stop her office from examining the facts.
The $30 million claim still needs to be substantiated, and an investigation doesn't establish wrongdoing.
Pirro says they'll follow the evidence wherever it leads.

Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) and the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Minneapolis are co-leading the criminal investigation into Rep. Ilhan Omar alongside the DOJ, securing a search warrant from a federal judge who found probable cause that childhood immigration records are kept inside her D.C. home.
Warrants are strictly location-dependent, meaning her presence in Minnesota with her cell phone and laptop did not alter the authorization to search her D.C. property.
As reported by NBC News, the inquiry actually traces back to June 2024 under the Biden administration, when federal prosecutors and the DOJ's public integrity unit went after Omar to scrutinize her personal finances, campaign spending, and contacts with a foreign national.
Sources speaking to the New York Post added that the current raid signifies law enforcement has amassed compelling evidence regarding allegations she is one year older than she has claimed, a detail that could legally jeopardize her U.S. citizenship.
In addition to the primary immigration probe, D.C. U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro confirmed that her office is actively investigating Omar's shifting financial disclosures.
This stems from an initial 2024 filing that reported up to $30 million in assets, which Omar's team amended down to under $100,000, claiming it was an accounting typo.
While a House ethics committee cleared Omar of internal congressional misconduct, Pirro warned that federal prosecutors are independently examining the facts.
Critics remain highly skeptical of Omar after her campaign returned donations from individuals later indicted in Minnesota's $250 million pandemic meal fraud scandal.
While Omar denies any advanced knowledge of the scheme and returned the cash as standard protocol, critics view the move as reactive damage control, pointing to her ongoing stubborn refusal to comply with state document subpoenas.
Whether you view the raid as a long-overdue accountability measure or a politically motivated hit job, the legal pressure mounting against Ilhan Omar from both Washington and her home state of Minnesota has reached an unprecedented boiling point.

The timeline around AGI is getting uncomfortable.
Garrison Lovely says people at the frontier of AI are now openly discussing the possibility that systems capable of helping automate their own successors could be much closer than most of the public realizes.
Some think months. Lovely thinks longer than that.
But even he doesn’t think “longer” necessarily means far away.
“If somebody got [a model like that], they could just let it rip and have it make a more capable successor ad infinitum.”
That’s the part that changes the conversation.
The real threshold may not be when AI becomes smarter than us.
It may be when it becomes good enough at improving AI that humans are no longer setting the pace.

🇾🇪🇺🇸🇸🇦 The Houthis say the U.S. will pay if it joins Saudi Arabia’s war.
Trump said over the weekend he’s thinking about joining the Saudi fight in Yemen, and a Houthi official answered with a promise of a “swift and painful” response.
The Houthis have already spent the past week hammering Riyadh’s main airport, killing at least 20 people, including an American.
Oil markets are already nervous, with Brent crude back above $105 a barrel, its highest in 2 weeks.
The Houthis have had a ceasefire with the U.S. since 2025, and it’s the reason they haven’t touched American ships. The moment the U.S. jumps in, that deal is gone, and things could get ugly fast.

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump is celebrating the U.S. NAVY'S 251st BIRTHDAY by praising its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which he now calls the “impenetrable Steel Wall.”
The Navy may be doing exactly what Trump ordered. That doesn't mean the strategy is working.
A successful blockade isn't measured by how many ships you can stop, but by what you achieve politically.
And I'm still wondering what the endgame is supposed to be.

🇺🇸 The scariest AI future might be the one where everything works as intended.
I've been thinking a lot about what happens when Artificial Intelligence becomes smarter than the people building it.
So I spoke with Garrison Lovely, author of Obsolete, who has been following some deeply concerning developments inside the AI industry.
Garrison says the immediate danger is already emerging in cybersecurity, where increasingly capable models could allow individuals to launch attacks that once required entire teams of specialists.
But something else from our conversation stuck with me.
We tend to imagine the worst AI scenario as machines breaking free, refusing human instructions and eventually taking control.
Garrison worries about that too. Yet he sees another path to dystopia that doesn't require AI to rebel at all.
What happens if these systems work perfectly, replacing human labor while concentrating enormous wealth and power in the hands of whoever owns them?
Governments could gain unprecedented surveillance capabilities. Autonomous weapons could enforce decisions without soldiers having to obey orders. Ordinary people could lose much of the economic leverage that has historically given them political influence.
And if the machines don't remain under human control, the consequences could be even more profound.
Garrison believes both futures are serious risks, not inevitable outcomes.
I came away wondering whether we're spending too much time asking if AI will obey us, and not nearly enough asking who it will be obeying.
