🇫🇷 Footage coming out of FRANCE is getting PRETTY UGLY POLICE officers are seen carrying an INJURED colleague away as fireworks are fired at them during protests that began over conditions in schools. But this was never just about education. Anger over public spending, the cost of living and France's political direction is bringing much wider frustrations to the surface. And what is Macron doing in all this?! When students start protesting the state of their schools and the streets end up looking like this, there's clearly a much deeper breakdown goin on. The violence is unacceptable. But so is pretending the anger behind these demonstrations appeared out of nowhere. Writer: Oliver t.co/5pJpYM3J5l

🇺🇸🇮🇷 Trump is celebrating the U.S. NAVY'S 251st BIRTHDAY by praising its blockade of the Strait of Hormuz, which he now calls the “impenetrable Steel Wall.” The Navy may be doing exactly what Trump ordered. That doesn't mean the strategy is working. A successful blockade isn't measured by how many ships you can stop, but by what you achieve politically. And I'm still wondering what the endgame is supposed to be. Writer: Oliver

🇺🇸 The scariest AI future might be the one where everything works as intended. I've been thinking a lot about what happens when Artificial Intelligence becomes smarter than the people building it. So I spoke with Garrison Lovely, author of Obsolete, who has been following some deeply concerning developments inside the AI industry. Garrison says the immediate danger is already emerging in cybersecurity, where increasingly capable models could allow individuals to launch attacks that once required entire teams of specialists. But something else from our conversation stuck with me. We tend to imagine the worst AI scenario as machines breaking free, refusing human instructions and eventually taking control. Garrison worries about that too. Yet he sees another path to dystopia that doesn't require AI to rebel at all. What happens if these systems work perfectly, replacing human labor while concentrating enormous wealth and power in the hands of whoever owns them? Governments could gain unprecedented surveillance capabilities. Autonomous weapons could enforce decisions without soldiers having to obey orders. Ordinary people could lose much of the economic leverage that has historically given them political influence. And if the machines don't remain under human control, the consequences could be even more profound. Garrison believes both futures are serious risks, not inevitable outcomes. I came away wondering whether we're spending too much time asking if AI will obey us, and not nearly enough asking who it will be obeying. @GarrisonLovely

🇺🇸 JD Vance tells a male supporter he loves him, then immediately clarifies: “In a totally platonic way, to be clear. I'm the vice president, not James Talarico.” From “I love you” to a Texas campaign attack ad in just a couple of seconds. Impressive. Writer: Oliver t.co/MnowDHcIXZ

🇺🇸🇷🇺 An American who used to make weapons for the U.S. has reportedly joined the Russian military. In an interview, the man, identified as Kelvin, says he was furious that weapons from his former workplace were being sent to Ukraine. He also says the U.S. reaction to the Epstein scandal was the final straw. He's reportedly already signed a military contract and started training. Going from making American weapons to signing up to fight for Russia is one hell of a career change. Writer: Lynn t.co/FJSqAxoaZi

🇮🇱🇮🇷 Israel is warning that Iran could try to interfere in its upcoming elections through TERRORIST ATTACKS. Defense Minister Israel Katz says Israeli authorities are detecting attempts by Iran and its proxies to carry out attacks aimed at influencing the vote on October 27: “Anyone who attacks us, before or after the elections, will have their hand CUT OFF and will pay the heaviest price.” Israel is heading into one of its most contentious elections in years, with Netanyahu's political future hanging in the balance. 🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦 Trump won’t say yet whether Russia broke his energy ceasefire. “I’ll let you know about that later, but they’re hitting each other.” For a ceasefire neither side ever confirmed, “they’re hitting each other” might be the most honest update yet. Writer: Daniyal t.co/yZBiUAf8D3

🇬🇧 The man killed by a tiger at Yorkshire Wildlife Park has been identified as William Chapman, 24. And in a disturbing detail, he apparently filmed himself inside the enclosure, approaching the tiger just moments before the fatal attack. Witnesses reportedly tried to stop him from entering. I keep coming back to one question: what on earth did he think was going to happen? Writer: Lynn t.co/LtxrsHQXhL

🇾🇪🇸🇦 THE HOUTHIS are turning YEMEN'S TAIZ into a DEATH TRAP Roads cut. Food running out. Shells falling on residential areas. A bottle of water can now cost $4. Wheat prices have surged 40%. Families are fleeing by the tens of thousands. The Houthis aren't simply attacking another city. They're tightening their grip on a major strategic crossroads, threatening to trap hundreds of thousands of civilians while cutting off the supplies keeping them alive. You don't need to destroy a city to make it uninhabitable. Sometimes all you have to do is close the roads. Source: Reuters, Al Jazeera / Writer: Oliver t.co/PJnkpTp4wu

He proudly announces that French emissions have fallen 23% since 2017. "We owe it to our youth." Sir, your youth is currently setting your country on fire. Writer: Oliver

🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦 Trump was asked why he’s so sure Putin wants the war over more than Zelensky does. His answer was all about his track record: “Only in dealing. That’s what I’ve done my whole life, is deals.” But a source close to the Kremlin says Putin won’t even come back to the table until he gets the rest of the Donbas, so that confidence still has a lot to prove. 🇺🇾 WTF IS HAPPENING IN URUGUAY?! An absolutely MONSTROUS storm cloud was filmed swallowing the sky, looking like something straight out of an APOCALYPTIC movie. Uruguay has been battered by severe storms this October, with winds reaching 125 KM/H (78 MPH), damaging roofs, knocking down trees, and leaving thousands without power. Writer: Sol t.co/MP0QlzkQi4

🇺🇸🇺🇦🇷🇺 Trump is sounding pretty relaxed about how the Ukraine war will end. “Bottom line, it’s going to all work out. You know why? It always does.” 4 and a half years in, a lot of Ukrainians are still waiting for the working-out part. Writer: Daniyal t.co/Q0DbEDZtJJ

🇺🇸 A 40-year-old man has been arrested in idyllic Nantucket, Massachusetts, on some VERY disturbing charges involving children. Rigoberto Chavez-Regaldo was arrested October 8 in a multi-agency operation led by the U.S. Marshals Service. He's facing multiple charges, including child rape, aggravated statutory rape, and trafficking a person for sexual servitude. He was ordered held without bail pending a further hearing. Authorities are withholding additional details to protect the alleged victims. I'm really hoping these children get the protection and support they need... 💔 Source: U.S. Marshals Service, NY Post / Writer: Lynn

🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦 Trump isn’t too bothered about Russia hitting Ukraine’s energy sites. Asked about Russia hitting 6 of them, his answer was: “Well, Ukraine hit many sites the day before.” But Zelensky tells a different story, saying Ukraine held off on Russian energy sites after Trump announced the ceasefire, and Russia hit them anyway. 🇾🇪 Yemen’s army says it took out 1,200 Houthi fighters in just 24 hours. The Saudi-backed forces claim they carried out 2,200 operations in a single day, destroying or disabling more than 440 military vehicles, with airstrikes hitting Houthi convoys around Taiz. It’s a big claim at a tense moment, with the Houthis hammering Saudi airports and Trump weighing whether to join the fight. But numbers like that are almost impossible to check, and in this war, both sides have every reason to talk big. Source: Al Jazeera / Writer: Daniyal

🇺🇸🇷🇺🇺🇦 Trump just pointed out that Russia's DIESEL DEAL isn't necessarily sending fuel directly to the U.S.: “They're releasing it to the entire world.” Trump recently announced a deal with Putin to release up to 4.8 MILLION TONS of Russian diesel, while Washington temporarily eased sanctions to make it possible. Meanwhile, diesel prices in America have climbed above $6 A GALLON, and Ukrainian drone strikes have severely damaged Russia's refining capacity. Russia now says it could restore exports to 3.5 MILLION TONS per month by the end of the year, although analysts seriously doubt Moscow can deliver those volumes. So Trump is betting that more Russian diesel on the global market will bring down American fuel prices, while Ukraine warns the deal could help finance Putin's war. That's one hell of a geopolitical balancing act 😂 Writers: Sol, Oliver t.co/qNcvBkFAF3

🇺🇸🇾🇪 Trump is threatening the Houthis again. He says America bombed them into submission last year, yet here they are, launching missiles at Saudi Arabia and threatening the region's energy infrastructure. Now he's accusing Iran of orchestrating the escalation to drive up oil prices ahead of the U.S. elections. “I'll be there after the Elections, and I will never forget!” I think Trump is getting dangerously close to another war he thought he'd already finished. The Houthis have survived years of Saudi bombing, American strikes and international pressure. Threatening to bomb them again is easy. Explaining what another bombing campaign would actually accomplish is considerably harder. Writer: Oliver

🇺🇸🇬🇷 Kimberly Guilfoyle appears to be preparing to LEAVE HER POST as U.S. Ambassador to Greece, and there's something rather unusual about her farewell statement. After celebrating her work on American energy exports, NATO cooperation and reducing Europe's dependence on Russian gas, she suddenly turns to allegations against her. She insists they're false and promises to defend her reputation. And then comes the line that makes the whole statement particularly interesting: “While my time as Ambassador may be coming to an end, my commitment to President Trump, the America First movement, and the country I love will never end.” That's a remarkably public acknowledgment that her departure may be approaching, without actually announcing one. Writer: Oliver

🇺🇸🇹🇷🇾🇪 Trump says he might ask Erdogan to help hit the Houthis in Yemen. “I might do it. He is a great friend of mine.” With NATO’s second-biggest army, Turkey would be quite the partner to bring along. Writer: Daniyal t.co/jvu5yJq3aZ

🇺🇸 BlackRock just DOWNGRADED its outlook on U.S. stocks, and AI is a major reason why... The world's LARGEST asset manager is cutting its stance on American equities from OVERWEIGHT to NEUTRAL, warning that the massive AI spending boom could bring serious market volatility. And here's the interesting part: BlackRock is now favoring short-term U.S. Treasury bonds, reversing a bearish position it had maintained for much of the past 6 YEARS. The firm still believes in AI's long-term potential, but it's becoming more cautious about the risks surrounding the buildout. Source: Reuters / Writer: Sol

🇺🇸🇺🇦 Trump says the U.S. is still sharing intelligence with Ukraine. Asked if Washington had cut it off, his answer was short: “No, we haven’t. We help them.” It’s a bit of reassurance for Kyiv, after a rough week of fights over the Russian diesel deal and Trump saying Ukrainians need “a new president.” Writer: Daniyal t.co/sKEr5eT2Ti
