🚨🇬🇧 More than 600 prisoners are being released early across the UK TODAY as the Labour government attempts to tackle a prison overcrowding crisis. The inmates, including burglars, domestic abusers, stalkers, and people convicted of assault, are being freed after serving as little as 1/3 of their sentences. This is the second wave of releases in less than a week, following 700 prisoners freed last Thursday. The totally expected part? Dozens have ALREADY been recalled to prison for breaching release conditions or committing new offenses. Greater Manchester Police alone arrested 8 recently released prisoners over alleged offenses including robbery, drug crimes, and domestic violence. A total of 4,500 inmates are expected to be released under the scheme, with even prisoners serving sentences exceeding 12 years scheduled for early release next June. 🚨🇦🇪🇮🇱 Are attempted hijackings a coordinated effort? 2 Maldivian pilots working for Flydubai were arrested in the UAE over an alleged plot to down a Dubai to Tel Aviv flight. The Maldivian Embassy notified families after the men were taken into custody last Saturday. They are among the newest of 6 Maldivian pilots at the airline and had workplace contact with the Omani co-pilot who attacked the captain of Flight 1073, in an attempt to crash that plane on Sept 30. Former gang leader Duane "Keffe D" Davis was convicted of first-degree murder in August and is scheduled to be sentenced TODAY, bringing one of hip-hop's most notorious cold cases (nearer) to a close. The killing followed a confrontation at the MGM Grand casino on September 7, 1996, when Tupac and members of his entourage beat Davis' nephew. Hours later, Davis and 3 associates tracked down Tupac and record executive Suge Knight in his BMW 750iL. Davis admitted passing a gun to the backseat before someone opened fire, hitting Tupac 4 times. Davis was arrested in 2023 after years of publicly discussing his involvement, including in a memoir that helped prosecutors build their case. COVID lockdowns killed demand overnight, storage tanks filled to the brim, and U.S. crude briefly went NEGATIVE, meaning sellers were literally paying people to take it off their hands. In 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine, the West slapped sanctions on Moscow, and Brent rocketed back up to $133. Now it's climbing again, with Brent settling at $106.65 yesterday and WTI at $93.74, as the Iran war drags on, the Strait of Hormuz stays under blockade and Houthi missiles rain down on Saudi Arabia.
