🇸🇦🇾🇪 MBS is reportedly moving between bunkered palaces as Saudi Arabia runs low on ways to stop Houthi missiles. Saudi officials say they're running low on interceptors, and the Houthis aren't letting up. They've hit Riyadh's main airport at least 4 times, and Saturday's strike killed at least 12 people and injured hundreds, making it the deadliest attack on the U.S. or its Gulf allies since the Iran war began. The economy is taking a beating too. Saudi Arabia's Finance Ministry expects a 3.6% contraction this year, while many of MBS's megaprojects, Neom included, are stalled or under review. MBS pledged around $1 trillion in U.S. investment, but Washington has so far resisted his requests for military help against the Houthis, sending advisers instead. Riyadh is now turning to Pakistan and scrambling to find air defenses elsewhere. A trillion dollars got MBS a White House welcome, but not the backup he's asking for now. Source: WSJ / Writer: Julie

Check out the timing of Trump's Russian diesel deal, and you'll know he's terrified of losing the midterms: 300,000 tons of diesel immediately 500,000 tons in November 1 million tons after that There's one reason for the deal, and that's to try to bring down prices at the pump Diesel's used by U.S industries, and price shocks find their way into daily living expenses because everything becomes more expensive: agriculture, haulage etc Trump knows there's no quick fix to the Iran war or Hormuz, and he knows voters will go against him if the cost of living keeps spiralling He's trying to save his ass and prevent a thrashing that would see the GOP lose the House and Senate The only question left is whether it will work Writer: Ian

🇺🇸 🇮🇷 The world is sleepwalking into a global energy and food emergency, and no one in power seems to be trying to stop it. Analyst Chris Martenson says he can find zero evidence of real diplomatic effort between the United States and Iran, only low-level noise and no direct talks. "I can't find anything to show that we have any intention of doing anything other than prolonging this and getting into a worldwide energy and food emergency." When you judge leaders by their actions, not their words, the picture gets very dark, very fast. @chrismartenson

🇲🇽 This hospital in Mexico was flooded after heavy rain from Tropical Storm Rachel last night. Water filled the hallways and rooms, leaving patients and staff stuck inside. 1/5 of global LNG supply has quietly vanished, and almost no one in the mainstream is saying it out loud. Chris Martenson breaks down why the "just as much oil as before" talking point is covering up a much larger crisis. "If we had an honest analysis, we'd say, no, this is a complete cluster. This is no good." The products, the LPG, the LNG, none of it is moving, and the silence around it is the story. @chrismartenson

🇨🇳🇹🇼 China has sanctioned top officials from Paraguay and Belize over their ties to Taiwan. Both countries are among the handful that still recognize Taiwan instead of China, and Beijing calls these officials “anti-China” for keeping it that way. They're now banned from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macau, and Chinese companies and individuals can't do business with them. And it's not the first time. China has punished foreign officials for getting close to Taiwan before, and now 2 more are on the list. Source: Reuters / Writer: Daniyal

🇸🇦 50 Houthi missiles hit a major airport unchallenged, and not one report of a single intercept. Analyst Chris Martenson says billions spent on American hardware bought nothing, and the kingdom's top-heavy structure means this could tip the whole regime. "This could lead to the toppling of the kingdom if this carries on." When the missiles keep landing and the princes keep hiding, the appearance of power is all that's left. @chrismartenson

🇵🇦 This bridge in Panama got wrecked in the earthquake. It has cracks and a huge sinkhole, so it's now completely closed. 🇺🇸 The teen charged in a Minnesota homecoming game shooting is already out of jail. He’s accused of shooting 2 teenagers at the Eden Prairie homecoming game on October 2. Prosecutors say a fight broke out between about 10 people near 2 cars, then the driver of one got out, fired at 2 people and took off, forcing the whole stadium to evacuate. Police say that driver was him. He allegedly ditched his phone and changed his number afterward, but cops still tracked it to the scene and found clothes at his home matching the shooter’s. His bond was set at $100,000, which sounds like a lot until you know cash bail is usually just 10% of that. So as little as $10,000 put him back on the streets before he’s even seen a judge. 🇺🇦🇷🇺 Philip Pilkington thinks Trump’s push for an energy ceasefire in Ukraine is about more than protecting infrastructure. He believes Russia’s winter strategy is to make major Ukrainian cities increasingly difficult to live in, potentially driving another wave of migration into Europe. At the same time, Trump has been pressuring Zelensky to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian energy targets. Pilkington sees a political calculation in that too. If shortages worsen before the midterms, Trump needs someone else to blame. “Trump also needs a bad guy for the midterms to blame the diesel shortages on, and Zelenskyy is perfect for that.” What makes this more interesting is that the interview itself pushed back on one of Pilkington’s claims: Zelensky’s approval is not around 5%, with cited polling putting it much higher. So the broader argument may be worth examining, but some of the political assumptions underneath it clearly deserve more scrutiny. @philippilk
