🇺🇸🇮🇱 JD Vance says U.S. policy toward Israel should ultimately come down to one thing: American interests.
Vance argued that Trump has been more willing than recent presidents to break with Netanyahu when Washington and Jerusalem want different things.
“I find it a little ironic that you have Democrats criticizing Donald Trump for his relationship with Netanyahu when Donald Trump is the one president of the last 40 years who's been willing to say, you know what, yeah, Netanyahu’s a good partner, but also Netanyahu and I have a different opinion on this, or Netanyahu’s wrong about this, or maybe Netanyahu’s right about this from the perspective of Israel, but the American people need us to go in a different direction.”
Vance went even further, saying U.S. Middle East policy cannot be “subservient to the state of Israel.”
Essentially, Israel remains a major military and intelligence partner, but partnership does not mean automatic alignment.
