🇨🇳 Just after the U.S admitted it has space weapons, China broke new records in sea-launched space missions by sending nine satellites into orbit
The Gravity-1 rocket lifted off near Shanghai and delivered eight communication satellites for Qianfan. One more "test" satellite rode along, all the way up to 800 kilometers.
State media is calling it the world's first sea launch of a broadband megaconstellation. But the timing is what makes this worth a second look…
Less than two weeks before this launch, one of China's own satellites, tied to its secretive Yaogan military reconnaissance program, broke apart in orbit for reasons nobody has confirmed.
And now, the U.S. Space Force has officially confirmed it has deployed weapons into orbit for the first time. China immediately hit back, telling Washington to "stop preparing for war in space".
Makes you wonder what the "test" satellite was that hitched a ride
