🚨🇲🇾 MALAYSIA GREENLIGHTS ANOTHER SHOT AT FINDING MH370 Nearly a decade after MH370 vanished with 239 people on board, Malaysia has given Ocean Infinity another chance to do what years of searching couldn’t—find the plane. Armed with fresh data and plenty of optimism, the UK- and US-based firm will scour 5,800 square miles of the Indian Ocean. The deal? “No find, no fee.” If they hit the jackpot, Malaysia owes them $70 million. The search is expected to kick off in early 2025, during prime ocean-scouring season, January to April. Families, still desperate for answers, hope this isn’t just another wild goose chase. After all, some debris turned up years ago, but the mystery still has more twists than a Netflix docuseries. Fingers crossed this time someone actually finds something. Source: CBS

🇺🇸 STATEN ISLAND AMAZON STRIKE HEATS UP Amazon’s Staten Island warehouse (JFK8) just joined the Teamsters' biggest-ever strike, now spanning seven facilities in four states, with nearly 10,000 workers involved. Workers demand fair pay, pointing out that Amazon drivers earn half what UPS drivers make despite Amazon pulling in $500 billion annually. Amazon says everything’s fine, but with arrests, picket lines, and thousands striking, things are looking messy. Source: Eyewitness News

🚨🇺🇸 CFPB SUES BIG BANKS OVER $870M ZELLE FRAUD SCANDAL The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB) is suing Bank of America, JPMorgan Chase, Wells Fargo, and Zelle’s parent company, accusing them of turning Zelle into a “gold mine for fraudsters.” Over seven years, customers lost $870 million to scams—while many were told to chase down scammers themselves to recover their money. CFPB Director, Rohit Chopra: “The nation’s largest banks felt threatened by competing payment apps, so they rushed to put out Zelle. By their failing to put in place proper safeguards, Zelle became a gold mine for fraudsters, while often leaving victims to fend for themselves.” Zelle called the lawsuit “factually flawed,” while JPMorgan Chase has threatened to sue the CFPB back—because apparently no one likes being blamed for $870 million in customer losses. 🚨🇺🇸 SUV CRASHES INTO TEXAS BARBERSHOP, LEAVES CHAOS AND INJURIES When you think barbershops, you think fresh fades—not SUVs crashing through walls. Surveillance footage captured the terrifying moment a speeding SUV plowed into a Houston barbershop, injuring three people, including a 10-year-old boy. Some inside ran for the door after a painter outside shouted a warning, but 25 people were still caught in the chaos. The 61-year-old driver, fresh from dialysis, may have had a medical emergency. Before turning the barbershop into a drive-thru, the SUV had already hit a church and several cars. The injured were taken to the hospital, and police are now investigating the situation. 🇺🇸BIDEN PLANS TO EMPTY DEATH ROW? Word is, Biden’s thinking about commuting the sentences of every single one of the 40 men on federal death row—including Boston Bomber Dzhokhar Tsarnaev. Looks like Biden’s planning to put the brakes on Trump’s execution spree, which set a new bar for speed and efficiency during his first term. Critics, of course, are not thrilled. They argue this could completely ignore victims' families and open the door for accusations of undermining justice. Source: WSJ, @CollinRugg Media Source: CNN

ELON: IT’S TOTAL MADNESS FOR GERMANY TO SHUT DOWN ITS NUCLEAR POWER PLANTS “I think it's very important that Germany does not shut down its nuclear power stations. I think this is extremely crazy. I want to be super clear: In my opinion, Germany should not only not shut down the nuclear power plants, it should reopen the ones that were shut down. Those are the fastest ones to restart. It's crazy to shut down nuclear power plants, especially if you're in a place where there's no natural disasters. Maybe, if you're somewhere where there are severe earthquakes or tsunamis or something like that, it's more of a question mark. But if there's no massive natural disaster risk, which Germany does not have, then there's really no danger with nuclear power plants. I can't emphasize enough: Please, do not shut down the nuclear power plants. And please, reopen the ones that have been shut. This is total madness to shut them down, I want to be clear. I would say this is a national security risk. Listen: Playtime is over, okay? Obviously, playtime is over. I think people don't understand: Coal power plants, because of their emissions, cause a certain number of deaths every year. It's far more dangerous than nuclear power plants.” Source: Welt, April 2022
