Iran just confirmed the reopening of their embassy and consulate in Saudi in preparation for a visit to the country in a few days. All this is thanks to China! The surprised CIA Director paid an unannounced visit to Saudi expressing frustration about their recent rapprochement with Iran Beijing last month hosted both countries where they agreed to resume diplomatic relations after a multi-year conflict. Iran and Saudi Arabia severed ties in 2016 after the Saudi Embassy in Tehran following the execution of a Saudi Shia cleric. This landmark agreement has the potential to transform the Middle East by realigning the 2 major powers, leading the region into China’s global ambitions and further away from the U.S. In 2015, Iran’s priority was improving relations with the US and EU. Today the focus is China, and the goal is to weaken US influence in the Middle East Not long ago, Biden urged Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and the UAE to join with Israel to contain Iran. But the Saudi government turned to China instead. Saudi satisfaction with US. policy in the region has been declining since the 2003 invasion of Iraq. The relations did not improve under Obama and Trump, and are not improving under Biden either. China had previously been careful to avoid entanglement in the Middle East. But to advance their strategic priorities, Beijing is now preparing to challenge Washington for influence in the Middle East. Will China’s breakthrough with Iran and Saudi serve as the foundation of a new geopolitical reality in the Middle East? How will the US react to this new multipolar reality?

#PentagonFiles: The leaks from the Pentagon have been monumental, expected at over 100 documents! The first batch of intel states that Ukrainians killed in action outnumber Russians 4:1, significantly higher than the 50% more Russian casualties mentioned by Western officials and the media. Furthermore, Ukraine’s medium to high air defence is almost depleted. SA-10 and SA-11 make up 89% of Ukrainian air defence. They ran out of SA-11 on 31 March 2023 and they believe they they will run out of SA-10 on 02 May 2023. In brief, the Ukrainian military could be in a SIGNIFICANTLY worse position than NATO admits. #BREAKING: China’s military is currently conducting drills of an “all-round encirclement” of Taiwan, according to ongoing reporting by local media. Considering the ‘drills’ Russia did before the Ukraine war, I wouldn’t discount this as simply ‘posturing’ While unlikely, an invasion of Taiwan will almost certainly trigger a U.S. military response. This would be CATASTROPHIC not only for Taiwan, but for the world. The global economy would be screwed.

#BREAKING: Pentagon Papers Leaked Classified documents have been leaked which appear to show US national security secrets relating to Ukraine, the Middle East and China. The leak, which includes 100 documents, expose Ukraine's military strategy ahead of a planned offensive against Russian troops. The Biden administration have been caught off guard. A senior intelligence official called the leak “a nightmare for the Five Eyes.” Former Pentagon official Mick Mulroy called the leak “a significant breach in security” that could hinder Ukrainian military planning. On the other hand, military analysts told the NYT that the documents, if genuine at all, may have been modified as part of a Russian disinformation campaign. One example given was the documents’ misleading overstating of Ukrainian deaths and an understatement of Russian deaths. "I do believe it is an example of hybrid warfare meant to shake the faith of the Ukrainian population," Tom Kellermann Zelensky’s advisor called the documents “virtual fake leaks” Russian sources are skeptical, labelling the leaks as "disinformation by Western intelligence in order to mislead our command in identifying the enemy's strategy in the coming counteroffensive." Is this a disinformation campaign by Russia? By the US? Or a legitimate leak exposing NATO’s Ukraine strategy?

Finland joins NATO Finland formally joined NATO on Tuesday and became the 31st NATO country. The border between Russia and NATO countries has now doubled.
